Sketchy Situations

Birthplace of adrenaline rushes It seems like our lives are pretty humdrum and ordinary compared to that which we see in movies and television. Not much happens, maybe some drama with friends and family but there are never any web-slinging superheroes overhead or apocalyptic space aliens in the streets. There are however, every once in a while pulse-pounding moments in life brought on by what is now known as “sketchy situations”.

A sketchy situation is today’s lingo for a shady set of circumstances. Meeting a friend in a dark alleyway for instance or walking to your car in an empty parking lot. On the surface they are really not that frightful but when you go through them it is a terror like never before. I have been in many sketchy situations usually because of my friends. They typically act like sketchballs, people who act shady or suspicious, for no particular reason. Sometimes when I am in a questionable scenario my imagination goes berserk and it is hard to not wonder if I am in the middle of some high-level drug deal or smuggling scheme.

Perhaps it is my fear of being stuck in an ordinary life that pushes my imaginative psyche to the extreme. Maybe we all need a scare now and then just revitalize ourselves. Whatever the reason, I am glad that some moments in my life are filled with pulse-pounding fear.

It reminds me that I still have a pulse.
