I Love the 00’s: Steve Irwin

In the style of VH1’s “I love the…” series, I have to decided to make my own continuation set in the new millenium’s past decade. Starting off in no particular order is wildlife enthusiast’s finest Steve Irwin.

Best known for his series,”The Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin captivated audiences around the globe with his thick Australian accent and passion for animals. It was Irwin that really put animal exploration videos on the map with his numerous television and film appearances. We’ll always remember his timeless catch phrases like “Crickey mate!” and “Look at that beauty”. I remembered the only time I ever watched Animal Planet was to watch his show, I thought he was one of the craziest guys alive. Five years ago his life was tragically ended from the barbed tail of a stingray off the coast of north Queensland, Australia. His daughter Bendi, continued on his legacy with her own wildlife show “Bindi the Jungle Girl” which aired for two years in 2007-08. It’s a shame that such a great man died so early. He will be sorely missed.
