Randy Moss to Retire

Is this the end for one of the NFL’s most accomplished wide receivers?

While the rest of the world is already getting into talks about Hall of Fame ballots, I’m still stumbling over the fact that Moss announced his retirement. For some reason I’m not too sure to take it seriously. It may be from the Favre Fever retirements talks we’ve all endured the past couple years but something inside me says that Randy cannot be done with football. The guy is 6’4, 210 lbs, and 34 years old. By no means is he out of contention with the league’s top WRs. So why is he calling it quits? Randy Moss is notorious for doing things his way. He has angered, coaches, fans, and fellow players alike with his my-way-or-the-highway attitude both on and off the field. If Randy does not want to play football he just simply won’t play. But I’m sure he has at least three more years in him. My guess to why he suddenly announced his retirement is because he’s been recently booted by two different teams in the same year. After falling from recording setting, Super Bowl placement to being a wideout for the Tennessee Titans, it does not get much worse than that. With 153 TDs it’s hard to complain about Moss, he’s tied with Terrell Owens another phenomenal wide receiver that was in the league for two more total years and is three years older than Moss. I’m sure he thinks if he returns to the NFL he’ll be reliving his Oakland days, landing on a C rate football team but this doesn’t necessarily have to be the case. Moss is still an A level player and good teams would scramble to sign the free agent even if he might be a headache to deal with. I am predicting a return if not this year than the next because Randy Moss is too good of a player to just suddenly be done with a legacy spanning over a decade.
